What is mandelic acid?
Mandelic acid belongs to the fruit acids or so-called alpha-hydroxy fruit acids (AHAs), such as glycolic acid or lactic acid.
Mandelic acid is produced from bitter almonds and is very mild and well tolerated compared to other AHA acids. Because mandelic acid is a large molecule, it slowly penetrates the outer layer of skin. This ensures significantly less irritation, even on sensitive skin. This is why mandelic acid is also milder than glycolic acid and salicylic acid.
What are the benefits of mandelic acid?
Mandelic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect, which is why it is often used to treat acne in adolescents and adults with impure skin. It gently cleanses the pores of fat and sebum and has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect.
What are the special features of mandelic acid?
- Mandelic acid can be used in high doses without irritating the skin.
- Mandelic acid evens out skin tone and lightens pigmentation. The increased accumulation of melanin in certain areas, which turns into pigment spots, is minimized with regular use.
- The scars and pigment spots are minimized by the application of mandelic acid.
- Mandelic acid has a sebostatic effect, which is why it is ideal for the care of oily skin prone to blemishes and against acne.
- Mandelic acid removes bacteria that tend to thrive in excess skin fat.
- Mandelic acid is also known for its antibiotic effect, comparable to salicylic acid.
Application: Spread a small amount of the gel on the skin with wet hands until a fine foam forms. The skin is then thoroughly washed with lukewarm water and dried.
The fine gel forms a foam when it comes into contact with water. It is intended for cleansing and degreasing all skin types.
The gel contains: 5% mandelic acid, which regulates the skin's bacterial flora and the sebaceous gland function; extracts of licorice root and tragacanth, which have an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect. The gel does not dry out the epidermis, but leaves skin perfectly clean, smooth and fresh, ready for the application of a cream. pH: 3.0
